Abandoned Cart Recapture

Abandoned Cart Recapture Automation (ACRA) is a set of tools that allows you to customize an outreach to potential customers to facilitate additional sales. This automation system includes a customizable email, a customizable window of time to send the email, a promo code option for the recapture effort, and logic to determine who will receive what email with which products in the cart.

Set-Up

You must use Leap Merchant Services (Stripe Connect) to use the ACRA system.

ACRA can be found in Marketing > Abandoned Cart Recapture.

Toggle the "Enabled" option to Yes to enable ACRA. At this point, the recapture automation is live but can be further refined for greater efficiency.

  • Email Delay in Hours - Customize how long before the recapture email is sent to the customer.
  • Promo code to apply to recaptured orders (optional) - Choose to offer a promo to the customer. Select a promo code from the dropdown option. Read Promo Codes below for further details.
  • Promo code expiration in hours - Set the promo code expiration value here.
  • Email Subject - Enter a custom subject for your recapture email.
  • Email Content - Enter your custom recapture email body.
  • Physical Address - This address will be displayed at the bottom of all ACR emails. It is best practice to provide your organization’s physical address so your recipients can see where the email is being sent from.

Customer Experience

When a customer visits a Purchase Page for an event, adds items to their cart, and clicks the "Continue to Payment" button, the cart/order is packaged and held until the transaction is completed. The customer's details are added to the recapture email queue. They will be sent an email with further information about their order and a link to the cart/order that has been built. They are then able to continue the transaction.

This email is sent to the potential customer after 2 hours have passed by default, but it can be adjusted based on your preferences.

Promo Codes

A common practice in recapture efforts is to include a slight discount on the abandoned purchase. To facilitate this, create a Promo Code through Marketing > Promo Codes. Once that Promo Code is made, it will display in the dropdown list on this page (after the page is loaded or refreshed), and it can be selected to apply to all recapture emails sent automatically. Additionally, a timer can be set for the promo code usage, which will expire the abandoned order after the designated time.

The rest of the options on the ACRA configuration page are for the email itself. You can adjust the vocabulary and subject line of the email and drop in your custom HTML instead of the standard Leap Conventions template. A key at the bottom of the page identifies specific variables you can call into the email to personalize it.

  • %%_FIRSTNAME_%% - First Name on Order
  • %%_LASTNAME_%% - Last Name on Order
  • %%_EMAIL_%% - Email Address on Order

Reporting

You can use the detailed Abandoned Cart report found on the Reports page.

The report details the first and last names, emails, and carted products and can be exported. A dashboard displays the number of emails sent, the open rate, and the associated conversation rate.

FAQs

What if a customer has abandoned multiple carts?

Customers will only receive a single recapture email; the cart included in the emailed link will be their latest abandoned order.

What if a customer abandons a cart but then returns and completes a different transaction before the recapture email is sent?

Leap Conventions will check for orders from the email address before the recapture email is sent, and it will not be sent.
