Create and customize coupon or promo codes that your customers can use to receive a discount on purchases. They can be configured in a variety of ways to get a specific intended result.
To create a Promo Code:
- In the Navigation Bar, hover over Marketing, and click Promo Codes from the flyout menu
- Click on the blue button titled Create a Promo Code in the top right of the index page
- You will be able to decide on, and input your code. Enter it in the empty field and select Create Promo Code
- You are now presented with a variety of options to configure and edit your Promo Code. The options are as follows:
- Active: This toggle turns the Promo Code on and off for use. It is recommended to leave this set to “No” until you are ready for your customers to start using it.
- Code Text: This is the same code text you used when you created the Promo Code and can be changed/adjusted here
- Code Description: This is for your internal use to know what the Code is for, and how it is being used
- Time Gated: When this toggle is set to “Yes”, it makes this Promo Code timed. A start and end date and time are both required for this feature to function. Entering those details will make this Promo Code only work during the time in between the Start and End Date and Times.
- Success Text: This is the confirmation text that your customer will see when they successfully input the Promo Code
-
Discount Type: There are four different types of Promo Codes that can be used.
- Flat Discount: This subtracts a specific, flat dollar amount from the price of the product (e.g., giving your customer $15 off of the product).
- Percent Discount: This subtracts a percentage from the product's price (e.g., 25% off).
- Specific Price: Sets the price of a product to a specific amount (i.e., setting the price to $40).
- Buy 1 Get 1 Free: Allows the customer to get one of the same product they are purchasing for free.
- Discount Amount: After selecting the Discount Type, you will determine the monetary component of the Promo Code. This is where you would set the actual discount amount.
-
Unlimited Use Promo Code: This option defaults to “Yes” and allows this Promo Code to be used as many times as your customers want to use it. When the toggle is set to “No” a new field opens up for you to set the Use Limit.
- Incompatible with “Apply Ticket Limit”.
-
Apply Ticket Limit: This is a more complicated option to describe. This is a different way of limiting the times a Promo Code can be used. A Promo Code will apply, when input by a customer, to all relevant products in their “cart”. In this way, a customer could buy 4 tickets with a promo code, and receive a discount on each of them. This would count as 1 “use” with the setting above. This particular setting, would allow you to restrict uses based specifically on tickets discounted, instead of times the promo code was typed by customers.
- Incompatible with “Unlimited Use Promo Code”.
- Universal Promo Code: By default this is turned off. When this toggle is set to “Yes”, the Promo Code will provide its discount to every product in the cart. When this feature is toggled to “No” a myriad of checkboxes, one for every Product in your event, will be displayed below. Click on each checkbox or use the individual Category “Select All” buttons to determine which Products this Promo Code should apply to.
-
Multi Product Promo Code: This is the most complicated object in the Promo Code set up. You can use this setting to allow a promo code to provide different discounts (within the same Discount Type) to different Products. Simply click the checkbox for the relevant Products and input their specific Discounts.
If the toggle for ‘Universal Promo Code' and ‘Multi Product Promo Code' are enabled at the same time, some products included in the promo code will zero out products. Only one or the other should be used. If only one of the products has a Multi Product Promo Code value, the rest of the products will be $0.00 when both options are toggled on.
- At the bottom of the screen is a green Update Promo Code button. Click this when you are done editing or creating a Promo Code to save your changes.
Activating Promo Codes
There is one final thing to note when creating promo codes within Leap Conventions. The ability for your customers to actually input and use the Promo Codes requires activation. To turn this feature on, you will need to go to a different section of Leap Conventions Navigation.
- In the Navigation Bar, hover over Product Manager, and click Setup from the flyout menu
- For the purposes of this article, we will ignore all options and settings on this new page, except for Show Promo Code Field–toggle this to “Yes”.
- Click the green Update Product Details button at the bottom of the page to save
As a reminder, make sure to toggle your Promo Code to “Active” when you are ready for your customers to start using it. After these steps inform your customers or potential customers of the Promo Code through any marketing campaign strategy you choose to employ and your customers can begin the promo/coupon code.
