Global Categories

Access

Access Global Categories by navigating to Event Setup > Global Categories

This page will list all of the Global Categories that have been created, allowing the user to filter the view at the top by Schedules, People, Space Orders, and a fourth content category called RFID Profiles for events using RFID services.  In the index, you will see the category's name, the color associated with it for schedule purposes, whether the category is public for people purposes, and then the scope.

Scope

Scope is the most crucial part here and the one thing that might not be immediately self-explanatory. Scope is how the categories are assigned to systems and connected. When creating or editing a Global Category, you can assign a scope that makes that category available for use in the respective system.  Categories can have multiple systems assigned during scope (the primary intended function of this feature). Categories assigned to numerous systems in Scope will be present for use in each of them and will have that content naturally grouped for the end user, where it makes sense, in front-facing components of Leap Conventions.

Creating Categories

From the Global Categories page, select Add A Global Category.

The category create page will display as follows:

  • Public - Controls whether this category will be visible in the frontend schedule or mobile app
  • Default for Epic Photo - Sets this category as the default if integrating with Leap Epic Experiences
  • Default for Epic Autograph - Sets this category as the default if integrating with Leap Epic Experiences (Autographs)
  • Highlight Color - Determines the color of this category on the frontend website or mobile app

Creating or editing a Global Category will provide you with identical options, all reflecting the items presented in the index. These categories are accessible via the API.
